This picture is of heartwood. Heartwood is the center wood of the tree trunk. It is the older more mature wood that is usually a darker color.
This picture is of a frond. A frond is a leaf that is usually made up of many different divisions.
This is an example of a pollinator. Pollinators, like this ant, transport pollen from one plant to another.
This picture is an example of a plant's tendril. Tendrils are used for plants to climb with and used for attachment and support.

This is an example of a herbaceous stem. Just like the woody stem, these stems support the plant and carry the nutrients it needs throughout it. A herbaceous stem differs from a woody one in that a herbaceous stem is green and flexible instead of hard.
This is an example of a woody stem. Stems have many functions that include carrying nutrients through out the plant and holding up the plant structures. Woody stems are hard and made up of wood and bark.
This is a picture of the stigma and style of a plant. The stigma and style of a plant are apart of the flowers reproductive system. The stigma is the part of the flower that is receptive to pollen and the style connects the stigma to the ovary.
This is a picture of a flower ovary. The flower ovary is the female part of the flower's reproduction system. The ovary is the part of the flower that will turn into the fruit whenever it is fertilized.
This is an example of an adaptation of a plant. This plant is in my computer room where is is only windows on one side. This plant's leaves have grown on one side, the side closest to the window which has the only sunlight. The plant has adapted to its conditions to allow the most sunlight to reach it.
This is a picture of a plant with thorns. Plants like these use thorns for protection from predators.

This is a picture of moss. It is a bryophyte. Bryophytes belong to the phylum bryophyta which is made up of nonvacular plants. These include mosses and liverworts.

This is a picture of pollen. Pollen is used to fertilize plants. Pollen can be distributed by the wind, animals, and even humans. Pollen is produced in the male part of the plant, the anther.

This picture is of a dry fruit with seeds. This fruit is a nut. The nut becomes hard in the ovary during maturity, making it dry.

This picture is of the inside of the plant, focusing on the cellulose. Cellulose is a building material for plants. It is primarily in the cell wall, but all plants produce it.

Although it is hard to see, this is a picture of a spider, or a arthropod. An arthropod is a invertebrate animal with an exoskeleton, a segmented body, and jointed extremities.
This picture is a representation of phloem in the plant. Phloem is the tissue inside the plant that carries the needed nurtients throughout the plant. Phloem is not present from the other view of a plant, so this picture so where the phloem would be located inside the plant.

This leaf is a deciduous leaf. This leaf will change colors during the appropriate season, then will eventually die when it is no longer needed. Then when the time comes, the tree will produce new deciduous leaves.

This picture is a picture of a conifer leaf. Conifer leaves are needle like. These leaves come from trees and shrubs such as pine or spruce.

This picture is an example of an autotroph. Autotrophs, like this one, produce their own food. Plants like this one use the sun to produce their food through a process called photosynthesis.
This picture is an example of the cuticle layer of a plant. The cuticle layer of a plant acts just like the skin of a human. The cuticle layer protects the plant from such material as UV rays and the loss of water. It adds suport to the leaf and serves as a protector for the organs under the surface.

Collected Biology pictures

This is the picture I choose to represent an angiosperm. Angiosperms are flowering plants. The seeds of the angiosperm are enclosed in the flower ovaries. When they bloom the seeds are then distributed.
